#SummitWSOC Weekly Notebook: No. 10

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – With two weekends left to play in the regular season, Oral Roberts leads the pack at 13 points with Denver trailing by one point. South Dakota State follows the Pioneers with 10 points, while the Yotes and Mavericks are in a tie for fourth place at seven points. The Golden Eagles remain the only unbeaten league squad, possessing a 4-0-1 ledger in conference action.
 
Denver and Kansas City face a pair of road matches this week, while North Dakota and St. Thomas have a chance to build their resume during a two-game homestand.
 
The No. 3 Jackrabbits will drive down I-29 for a matchup with in-state rival South Dakota (No. 4) on Saturday afternoon.
 
No. 1 Oral Roberts and No. 2 Denver each have one road contest this week, as the Golden Eagles head to North Dakota for a Thursday matinee while the Pioneers travel to Omaha for a Sunday showdown.

• Oral Roberts continues to pace the Summit League after posting a draw against St. Thomas (2-2) and a win over South Dakota (2-1). The Golden Eagles are 4-0-1 in league play and 10-3-2 overall.
• ORU senior Julia Thasaphong recorded a goal in both matches for the Golden Eagles while also adding an assist against the Tommies. Thasaphong leads Oral Roberts with six goals on the season.
• Redshirt junior Brianna Castleberry leads the league in shot accuracy with a .686 mark, which also ranks fourth in the country (DI).
• A goal in the 21st minute by Denver’s Lilly Lund proved to be the difference-maker as the Pioneers shut out the Jackrabbits 1-0 last week.
• Denver goalkeeper Alina Santos was credited with her fifth cleansheet of the season, tying for second-most in the league.
• South Dakota State recorded their first league loss of the season on Thursday against the Pios.
• The Jackrabbits quickly rebounded and defeated Omaha 3-1 on Sunday, outshooting the Mavericks 18-11 in the contest.
• South Dakota and Omaha are tied for fourth place (7 pts) in the Summit League standings following a loss from both teams on Sunday.
• The Yotes earned a 1-1 draw at Kansas City on Thursday before falling to Oral Roberts 2-1 to close the weekend.
• Klarissa Vega leads the USD attack, sitting second in the league with seven goals on the year
• In Omaha’s 3-1 loss at SDSU, freshman Presley Douglas scored her second goal of the season in the 18th minute to jump ahead early before the Jackrabbits notched three-straight goals to take the match.
• North Dakota secured its first conference win of the season with a 1-0 triumph over in-state rival North Dakota State on Sunday, their first win over the Bison in Fargo since Aug. 17, 2017. The result also marks the Fighting Hawks’ first league victory since October 2023 and their first conference road win since March 2020.
• Yui Fujii delivered the game-winning goal for UND while Grace Miller earned her league-leading sixth shutout of the season.
• Kansas City’s Delfina Zolesio led the Roos to a 1-1 draw against South Dakota and a 3-2 win over St. Thomas, scoring in each contest to stay atop the league with 10 goals. Her standout play also garnered her honorable mention recognition on the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week.
• After being shut out 1-0 by North Dakota in their lone match of the week, the Bison will look to turn the page with a home matchup against Kansas City on Thursday followed by a road trip to St. Thomas on Sunday.
• The Tommies showed resilience in a 2-2 draw at Oral Robert on Thursday to steal a point after late-match heroics. Melina Knowles delivered the equalizer in the 89th minute (88:45), her second goal of the season, as UST held on for the tie despite being outshot 24-8. Goalkeeper Olivia Rowe tallied 10 saves in the matchup.
