#SummitMSOC Weekly Notebook: No. 7

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Oral Roberts was the only Summit squad to not get a taste of conference play last weekend but the Golden Eagles will change that Saturday with a road trip to St. Thomas and take a little momentum with them. ORU rallied from a two-goal defiict to snap a three-game skid as they enter the fray that saw Delaware, Denver and Omaha all secure conference wins this past Saturday.

The Pioneers picked up three key points in a tilt between last year's two finalists and the top two squads in the coaches' preseason poll. DU scored twice on a KC defense that had yielded just one goal during a four-match unbeaten streak entering the contest.

The Blue Hens opened its Summit League era with a 2-1 come-from-behind win over UMass to claim three early points in the standings, while the Mavericks won its second straight match after an 0-5-2 start to get three points.

Besides the Omaha-St. Thomas contest, DU will travel to UMass for a rematch from last year's NCAA Tournament -- a 3-0 win by Pios -- and the Mavericks will take on the Roos with all all three league tilts streaming live on the Summit League Network.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
• Oral Roberts rallied to beat Central Arkansas and snap a three-game losing skid. The Golden Eagles scored a trio of second-half goals to erase a 2-0 deficit, getting the game-winner from Benjamin Morgan in the 78th minute to secure the 3-2 win over the Bears.
• ORU will open its Summit slate on the road Saturday against St. Thomas. The Tommies bounced back from a 2-0 loss in their league opener at Omaha to defeat VMI 3-1 in a non-conference tilt Tuesday.
• Mathis Guffroy scored twice, including a clean one from the penalty spot and a rebound off a miss from the penalty spot. Those tallies helped give UST its fifth win of the season -- a new program record for victories at the DI level.
• Denver goalkeeper Isaac Nehme made a career-high eight saves to lead the Pioneers to a 2-1 victory over Kansas City in a rematch of last season’s Summit League Championshp match.
• Nehme made six of those saves in the first half and the Roos’ breakthrough came in the closing seconds after DU had built a 2-0 lead on goals from Bryce WIlloughby and Ian Welch.
• The Pioneers will head to UMass for a league showdown against a Minutemen team they defeated 3-0 in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals a season ago. DU will remain on the east coast for a Tuesday non-conference match at (14/18) Georgetown.
• Delaware defeated the Minutemen 2-1 in what was the first Summit League match for the pair of newcomers. Matt Cence put UMass on the board in the 36th minute with his four goal of the season but Marius Stenner answered just over three minutes later to level the score at 1-1.
• Richard Monath tallied the game-winner for UD in the 77th minute as Jan Schroeder assisted on both goals in the victory over UMass.
• The Blue Hens improved to 9-0-1 with a 3-1 victory at Lehigh Tuesday as Stenner recorded his third brace of the season and now has a four-match goal scoring streak for the second time in 2025. He currently ranks second among DI goals scorers with 11 on the campaign.
• Omaha took down St. Thomas 2-0 in its Summit opener. Graduate student Theo Klein scored from the penalty spot in the 12th minute and Maguire Perkins added an insurance tally in the 24th minute. For both players, the goal was their third of their respective campaigns.
•After an 0-5-2 start, Omaha has won two straight as they are set to travel to Kansas City for a Saturday Summit tilt.
• The Roos outshot the Pioneers 18-8 in the rematch in the Mile High City, putting nine of those on frame as their four-match unbeaten streak came to a halt.
• FIU transfer Joackim Betina scored his first goal as a Roo in the loss to DU.
