GREENWOOD, Ind. – University of Denver men's soccer senior defensive midfielder Aidan Semelsberger has been named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team selection, the CSC announced on Tuesday.
Semelsberger became the 12th DU men's soccer player to earn Academic All-America honors, including the fourth in the last three years. The Los Alamos, New Mexico, native is the 26th student-athlete in the University of Denver's history to earn First Team Academic All-America honors, including the sixth men's soccer player. Semelsberger joins Jason Belloli (2023), Christian Bowers (2004), Michael Perry (2010), Andre Shinyashiki (2018) and Graham Smith (2017) as the six Denver men's soccer student-athletes to earn the prestigious honor.
DU's holding mid carries a 3.92 grade point average in accounting, and played all but 12 minutes in the entire 2025 campaign for a Pioneers team that finished 12-7-3 and reached at least the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in 11 seasons under Jack and Sheila Weinberg Head Men's Soccer Coach Jamie Franks. Semelsberger had a pair of assists in Denver's Summit League Tournament matches to earn a spot on the league's All-Tournament Team.
The 2025 Summit League Third Team pick played in-front of a backline that led the Summit League with just four goals allowed in league play, and allowed just 22 shots on goal in the six league matches. In his career, Semelsberger played 57 matches in a Denver midfield that was one of the best in the country during his time with the program.
In the classroom, Semelsberger is a seven-time University of Denver Dean's List honoree and a five-time DU Hornbeck scholar. Semelsberger was also a member of the 2024 Summit League All-Academic Team and a three-time member of the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
