SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts senior Avery Blake and the Denver duo of Jack Dozer and Jet Hernandez claimed the latest first Kwik Star #SummitGF Peak Golfer of the Week accolades of the spring campaign, League officials announced Thursday. Blake racked up her fifth career women’s honor, while awards for Dozer and Hernandez were their second and first, respectively.
Blake recorded her first top-five finish of the season, taking third at the Texas Golf Throwdown with a 54-hole total of 217 (+1). After opening with an even-par 72, the Golden Eagle senior put together her eighth round of par or better with a 71 (-1) in the second round.
She tied for third in the field with eight birdies around her hometown course a the Woodland Country Club.
Dozer and Hernandez shared fourth at the Loyola Intercollegiate as the Pioneer seniors each posted 54-hole scores of 205 (-11). The DU duo combined for 34 birdies in their three laps around the Palm Valley Golf Course, leading the Pioneers to a third-place team finish.
Dozer, a Phoenix native, led the 119-player field with 18 birdies and shared the lead in par-5 scoring at -11. Hernandez, a Muntinlupa, Phillipines native, tied for fifth in the field with 16 birdies and also dominated the par 5’s with a -10 showing on those holes.
