SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State senior McKenzie Mages and Oral Roberts freshman Jorge Sanchez Gutierrez were selected for the latest Kwik Star #SummitGF Peak Golfer of the Week accolades, League officials announced Wednesday. Mages garnered her sixth career women’s award, while Sanchez earned his first.
Mages finished runner-up at the Jackrabbits Invitational as the top Summit League finisher at the event, setting a new program record with a 54-hole total of 211. The senior posted two rounds of 69 (-3) during the tournament to lead the way.
The Sioux Falls, S.D., native carded 12 birdies in the event, pushing the Jacks to a second-place team finish at the home tournament.
Sanchez turned in a strong performance for Oral Roberts at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate, finishing tied for third with a 54-hole total of 209 (-7). He posted consistent rounds of 70, 71 and closed with a 68, climbing the leaderboard with one of the top final rounds in the field.
The Malaga, Spain, native paced his round with 13 total birdies across the tournament, using steady scoring and a strong finish to secure the top-three result for the Golden Eagles.
