#SummitSB Weekly Notebook: No. 5

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – As the fifth week of Summit League play approaches, Omaha holds the top spot in the standings with an 8-1 conference record following a series win at St. Thomas. The Mavericks look to maintain their momentum this weekend as they host South Dakota State.
 
OMA and SDSU open their series Friday at 6 p.m. CT, followed by a 6 p.m. CT first pitch Saturday and a 1 p.m. CT finale Sunday.
 
The Tommies have the weekend off after making up their postponed series at North Dakota State earlier this week. The Bison took game one before the Tommies responded with a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday.
 
North Dakota State returns to league action with a home series against Kansas City, beginning with a doubleheader Saturday at 12 p.m. CT. The series concludes Sunday with an 11 a.m. CT first pitch.
 
Rounding out league action this weekend, South Dakota travels to North Dakota with first pitch set for Saturday at 5 p.m. CT.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
• Omaha remains atop the standings at 8-1 in league play after taking two of three at St. Thomas, highlighted by a 10-2 run-rule win, and is ranked No. 5 in this week’s D1 Softball Mid-Major poll.
• The Mavericks continue to pace the league in batting average (.326) and fielding percentage (.976).
• Taylor Sedlacek leads the league in home runs (13), OBP (.523) and OPS (1.344), while Maddia Groff is among the league leaders in wins (10) and strikeouts (108).
• St. Thomas split its weekend series with Omaha before responding with two wins in a midweek series at North Dakota State to move to 8-4 in league play.
• Laken Lienhard remains one of the league’s top all-around hitters, sitting among the leaders in batting average (.394), hits (43), OBP (.521), RBI (42), and slugging (.817).
• The Tommies have allowed just 129 runs through 40 games this season, the second fewest among league teams while also leading the league with a 2.62 ERA.
• SDSU went 1-2 at Kansas City in their last conference action but picked up wins over Georgia Tech and Iowa in non-conference play this past week, defeating the Hawkeyes twice.
• The Jackrabbits remain among the league’s top offensive teams, batting .310 as a club.
• SDSU continues to feature one of the league’s most productive lineups, with Emma Vike, Emma Christensen, Abby Gentry, and Bria Riebel ranking as the top four amongst the league in hits.
• North Dakota State swept its series at South Dakota and added a midweek win over St. Thomas as part of a 4-2 stretch for the Bison.
• Bella Dean remains a big hitter for NDSU, topping the league with 14 doubles while ranking among the leaders in hits and RBI.
• Jocelyn McClary has been a consistent option in the circle, sitting among the league’s top pitchers in ERA (2.57) and wins (10).
• Kansas City won two-of-three against North Dakota to win its second conference series of the season.
• KC has won five of their last six league games to move to 5-7 in conference play.
• The Roos have gotten strong production in the circle from Delilah Robles, who is among the league leaders in innings pitched (111.2) and strikeouts (57).
• South Dakota dropped its weekend series to North Dakota State and fell in a midweek matchup at Iowa State on Tuesday.
• Madison Evans continues to lead the league in strikeouts (113) and remains among the leaders in innings pitched (115.2).
• South Dakota has allowed 258 runs this season, the most in the conference.
• North Dakota dropped a pair of conference games at Kansas City over the weekend but picked up a midweek shutout win over Crown College (13-0).
• The Fighting Hawks continue to be led in the circle by Nelson Unity and Tegan Livesay, both of whom are among the league leaders in ERA, wins, and innings pitched
• Jaedyn Valdez leads the hitting front for UND, ranking 8th in the league in batting average (.376) and tenth in on base percentage (.458).
