NDSU’s Renschler and McGlynn garner #SummitOTF Championship Most Outstanding Performer honors

NDSU’s Keller and UND’s Vahrenkamp earn Coach of the Year honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League officials announced the 2026 Most Outstanding Performers of the Championship, Coach of the Year awards and the 131 All-Summit League team honorees Tuesday. North Dakota State claimed both awards with Paige Renschler earning the Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship for the women, while Zach McGlynn garnered the award on the men’s side.

NDSU head coach Stevie Keller won the Men’s Coach of the Year honor for the fifth time in his career, after leading the Bison to a team title last weekend.

The Bison men won their 16th title in the last 18 years. His men scored 238.5 points and racked up 21 all-league honors to best runner-up South Dakota State by 76.5 points.

UND head coach James Vahrenkamp won the Women’s Coach of the Year award for the first time in his career after leading the Fighting Hawks to a second-place finish at the Outdoor championship with 196 points. This was the highest finish at the Summit League Outdoor Championship in North Dakota history.

The Fighting Hawks swept the Track and Field MVP honors for the second year in a row while racking up six first-place finishes and 13 all-league honors.

Renschler helped her coach capture NDSU’s fourth straight title on the women’s side after setting meet records in both the 100-meter and 200-meter while running a leg of the winning 4x100 relay in Fargo. The Bison sophomore clocked a personal-best in the 100-meter finals with a winning time of 11.24.  She then set another personal-best in the 200-meter prelims, posting a time of 22.98.

The Fargo, N.D., native finished the meet with three gold medals and 22.5 points, helping the Bison women cruise to a 50.5-point victory in the team standings. NDSU has now won 17 of the last 18 women’s outdoor titles.

McGlynn picked up a gold medal and set a new meet record in the decathlon during the outdoor championship. The Bison senior is ranked 5th in the nation after scoring 7,922 points, a 225 point improvement over his previous personal best. He would add 10 points to help the Bison to a first place finish.

The Stephen, Minn., native clocked a personal-best of 49.73 in the 400-meter, 10.68 in the 100-meter, and 4:45.53 in the 1500-meter while also throwing a personal record 147-6” (44.97m) in the javelin. McGlynn garnered an addition three first place finishes in the decathlon pole vault with a vault of 17-2.25” (5.24m), the decathlon long jump with a leap of 24-0.25” (7.32m) and the decathlon high jump with a jump of 6-10.25” (2.09m).  The Bison senior finished his decathlon with three second place finishes in the shot put throwing 44-6 (13.56m), the discus with a toss of 129-0 (39.31m) and the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.70.

The Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship is determined by a vote of the participating head coaches and is based upon the student-athletes’ performance during the Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

To receive the All-Summit League accolade a student-athlete must finish in the top three in an event category at the league championship meet.
