SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League officials released the 2022 Outdoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Performers of the Championship and the 116 All-League team members Wednesday. North Dakota State’s Amanda Anderson earned the Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship for the women while South Dakota’s Demar Francis achieved the honor on the men’s side.
Anderson claimed her third straight Summit League outdoor title in the discus throw. She won the event with a throw of 175-4 (53.45m) to win by a margin of nearly 15 feet. She also added a shot put title to her collection after she launched a season-best throw of 51-11.75 (15.84m).
Anderson also took seventh overall in the hammer throw with a mark of 170-4 (51.91m).
Francis, the 2021 Summit League Outdoor Newcomer of the Championships, received three gold medals during the outdoor championships. He became the first Coyote to clock a sub-46 time in the 400m to claim the event in 45.79 seconds. His winning time broke not only the USD record but his own championship meet record set a year ago.
Francis followed up that performance by winning the 200m in a personal best time of 20.65, breaking a 20-year-old school record (20.77). He also helped the 4x100m relay team capture back-to-back titles. He ran the second leg of the relay that clocked a season-best 40.02 to win.
The Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship is determined by a vote of the participating head coaches and is based upon the student-athletes’ performance during the Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
To receive the All-League accolade a student-athlete must finish in the top three in an event category at the league championship meet.
