Bison sweep #SummitGF weekly honors for second time this fall

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the second time this fall, North Dakota State swept the #SummitGF Peak Golfer of the Week awards, league officials announced Thursday. Junior Madi Hicks claimed her second female honor of the year, while senior Ian Simonich collected his first.

Hicks recorded her fourth top-10 finish in four fall tournaments, tying for fifth at the Diane Thomason Invitational. She was the top Bison finisher in the 81-player field, helping lead NDSU to a fifth-place team finish.

The Victoria, Minn., native turned in a 71(-1) in the second round, which was her team leading third round of par or better this season.

Simonich won the inaugural Tommie Invitational for his second career victory. The senior was the lone golfer to finish under par on the Stoneridge Golf Club track. He sandwiched a second-round 71 (-1) between a pair of even-par rounds to shoot a 215 (-1) and win by two strokes.

The Bison won the team title by seven strokes in an eight-team field that featured four other Summit League squads. Simonich made three birdies in each of his rounds to finish with nine for the tournament.
