SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State is on the verge of rewriting several key records in the Summit League history book. Currently, the Jackrabbits hold the fifth-longest winning streak in conference history, and they have the potential to set new marks for total blocks, blocks per set, overall win streak, league win streak, total wins, and league victories if they continue their dominant play. Several standout players, including Sydni Schetnan, Sylvie Zgonc, and Madison Burr, are also in position to etch their names in the single-season record book by the end of the year. The Jackrabbits will remain at home in Brookings this weekend, facing the Tommies on Thursday evening and the Bison on Saturday.
South Dakota State isn’t the only team with a chance to make history. The Mavericks are also positioned to set new records for total blocks and blocks per set. They have a bye on Thursday before taking on Oral Roberts on Sunday.
Meanwhile, South Dakota is riding a four-game winning streak and will square off against the Bison on Thursday. The Tommies, who will be on the road this week, face the undefeated Jackrabbits on Thursday before heading to Kansas City to take on the Roos. North Dakota State, currently sitting in fifth place in the Summit League standings, will play both South Dakota schools, with an opportunity to climb higher in the rankings.
The Pioneers, in sixth place, will host the Roos and Fighting Hawks. Kansas City, Oral Roberts, and North Dakota round out the standings in seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively.
With so much at stake, this promises to be an exciting week of league action as teams jockey for position heading into the conference championship race. The action kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, streaming live on the Summit League Network.
