#SummitVB Weekly Notebook No. 4

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Summit League women’s volleyball programs combined for 13 wins in the third week of play, with eight of the league’s nine teams picking up at least one victory. St. Thomas and North Dakota State both went undefeated over the weekend. South Dakota State went 2-1, securing wins over (RV) Dayton and (RV) South Florida before falling in four sets to No. 13 Minnesota. The Jackrabbits are now receiving votes in the national rankings for the first time this season.

All nine Summit League teams are back in action this week with matches taking place across eight different states.

South Dakota, South Dakota State, Omaha, and Oral Roberts will each host home contests. For the second week in a row, the Coyotes will host a home tournament. This weekend they will face Villanova on Thursday, Wichita State on Friday, and Drake on Saturday. South Dakota State also stays at home for two matches against Boise State on Friday and Saturday. Omaha hosts South Florida and (17) Kansas to wrap up the Mavericks non-con slate. 

Oral Roberts stays in its home city this weekend but will head to Tulsa for a match on Friday before taking on Arkansas-Little Rock and New Mexico State on Saturday on the Golden Hurricane campus. The Golden Eagles finish their non-conference schedule with a home match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday.

North Dakota State heads down south to Arkansas for matches with Arkansas State, Arkansas, and Southern Illinois. North Dakota is also heading south to Georgia to take on UT Martin, Mercer, and West Georgia before conference play begins. The Roos head across Missouri to St. Louis for matches with Southeast Missouri State, Saint Louis, and Missouri State.

St. Thomas heads to Chicago for matchups with Northwestern on Thursday and Campbell on Friday. Denver travels just down the road to Colorado Springs for a three-game slate with Air Force, Utah Tech, and Northern Colorado.  
Summit League teams will wrap up non-conference action this weekend before shifting focus to conference competition beginning September 25th.

Around The League
• Eight of the leagues nine volleyball teams picked up a win during the third week of the season. 
• North Dakota State’s Arianna Blohm notched a season best 14 kills on 21 attempts for a .619 hitting percentage and six blocks against Kent State. The Bison sit atop the league standings after a 6-1 start to the season. 
• South Dakota State’s Madison Burr and Sylvie Zgonc were selected to the Diet Coke Classic All-Tournament Team. The Jackrabbits knocked off South Florida and Dayton, both of whom were receiving votes. The Jackrabbits are now receiving votes for the first time this season. 
• South Dakota’s Kamryn Farris has recorded double-digit digs in all eight matches to start the season. This past weekend, Farris notched 17 digs against Green Bay, tied her season-high with 25 digs against Florida Gulf Coast, and finished the weekend with 16 digs against (17) Kansas. 
• St. Thomas has won its last six matches, marking the longest win streak during the program's Division I era. Ella Voegele was named the Bryant Invitational MVP with teammates Megan Wetter and Morgan Kealy joining her on the All-Tournament Team.
• Denver earned its first Power 4 win since 2021 and first SEC win since 2008 in a 3-2 victory against Arkansas.
• Omaha’s Morgan DeBow and Faith Venable were named to the Cyclone Invitational All-Tournament Team. Venable tallied 23 kills, 23 digs, and five blocks while DeBow notched 10 kills against Iowa State.
• UND’s Izzie McCormick is nine digs shy of 1,000-career-dig milestone. The senior notched back-to-back season highs with 18 digs against Kent State and 20 against Idaho. The effort vs. the Vandals was her 11th career match with 20 or more digs. 
• Kansas City placed outside hitter Ryanne Wattree on the Bradley Invite All-Tournament Team. Wattree recorded 27 kills and a .373 hitting percentage during the three-match stretch.
• ORU’s Farah Helmy led the Golden Eagles with 47 assists on the weekend.   She notched a match-high 18 assists against Texas Southern, a team high 17 assists against UCLA, and a team high 12 assists against UTEP.
