SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Three repeat honorees highlighted the 2020 #SummitWSOC All-Academic Team announced by league officials on Monday. There was a total of 11 student-athletes named to the squad that was voted on by the membership's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. Omaha's Kaitlyn Guhl, South Dakota's Alexis Mitchell and South Dakota State's Rachel Preston earned their second straight All-League honor.
Tournament champion Denver led the way with a quartet of honorees in junior forwards Natalie Beckman and Sami Feller, sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Glover and sophomore forward Sydney Sharp, while the tournament runners-ups Omaha had two players on the squad in Guhl and Andrea Daves. Guhl was the lone student-athlete on the list who owns a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Rounding out the selections were SDSU's Rachel Hewitt, North Dakota State's Ellie Schneider and North Dakota's Ashley Ebeling.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league's nine institutions that carry women's soccer. The #SummitWSOC all-league team is made up of the 11 student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
